Amazon has today launched the most-awaited Fire TV Stick with voice remote in India. Priced at Rs 3,999, the device will be available on Amazon and select retailers across India including Reliance Digital and Croma. The Amazon Fire TV Stick also comes baked in with support for a voice-control feature that also supports Hindi as a language.
In addition, customers in India will receive up to 100 GB of free data on Airtel Broadband and 4G home Wi-Fi devices, valid for three months from the time of activation. Apart from this, you get up to 240 GB of free data from YOU Broadband; six months of unlimited ad-free music streaming from Gaana; a three-month free premium video membership from Eros Now; and one month of ad-free streaming from Voot and Voot Kids.
Users who purchase a Fire TV Stick and sign up for an annual Amazon Prime membership will receive Rs 499 credit to their Amazon Pay account as an introductory offer. The new Fire TV Stick is basically a streaming device that needs to be plugged into HDMI slot into a TV, similar to Google Chromecast, and when connected to Wi-Fi network users can watch movies, TV shows, apps and games through the streaming device.
Amazon launches Fire TV stick
Fire TV stick comes with a quad-core processor and fast Wi-Fi for good picture quality. Another highlight of the device is the only streaming media stick with a voice remote. One can search Amazon Video content using just his/her voice and offers spoken language support for Indian customers in Hindi and English. Amazon also announced the release of three new titles on Prime Video, exclusively for Prime members and available on Fire TV Stick – Baahubali: The Lost Legends – based on one of 2016’s highest grossing movies, Oscar winner Suicide Squad, and a stand-up comedy special by Kenny Sebastian.
Other than this, users can avail thousands of movies and TV episodes, sports, news, music, and games, from Amazon Prime Video, Hotstar, Eros Now, Voot, Airtel Movies and more. Amazon Prime Video offers Prime members in India with Bollywood and regional Indian blockbusters like Ae Dil Hai Mushkil, Befikre, Kabali, Shivaay and Theri, Hollywood movies like Suicide Squad, Batman v Superman, and The Legend of Tarzan, popular US TV shows like Vampire Diaries, Mr. Robot, 2 Broke Girls and Two and a Half Men, kids’ programming like Chhota Bheem and Shin Chan, and Amazon Original Series like The Man in the High Castle and The Grand Tour.
The Fire TV Stick also offers parental controls for a safe viewing experience for children. Customers can use the remote to set an access PIN to restrict access to mature content. All movies and TV shows in the Amazon Prime Video catalogue, as well as apps from the Amazon Appstore, come with maturity ratings by age group. Lastly, the device supports High-Efficiency Video Codec (HEVC), giving customers 1080p HD streams from their existing Internet connection.
“Fire TV stick offers access to a vast selection of movies and TV shows, popular apps and features designed specifically for customers in India including voice search for Amazon video titles in Hindi and English,” Marc Whitten, Vice President, Amazon Fire TV, told reporters.
