Comic Books – the name says it all!

Comic books are humorous, entertaining, funny, witty, amusing and can lift your mood within no time. To read a comic book, you don’t have to be a kid or a teen. You can enjoy reading them at any age. Whenever I’m bored or feeling a little low, I just pick up one of my favorite comic books and start reading it.

They are incredible sources of entertainment and their narrative is simply wonderful.

Most of the people think that comic books falls only under the humor genre. But in reality, it is not so. They dominate a variety of genres from romance, superhero, action and what not. But there are a few of the comic books that have really touched my heart and I won’t mind reading them over and over again thousands of times. Have a look….

1. The Adventures of Tintin

I still remember some of the characters from this comic book which as the name suggests, is adventurous. Tintin was the favorite character of many children. Do you remember Snowy, Captain Haddock, Professor Calculus and Thomson & Thompson?

The Adventures of Tintin gained immense fan following ever since it began. It involves the dangerous adventures of a young reporter Tintin, along with his troop which includes his dog Snowy, his best friend Captain Haddock and an absent-minded professor Calculus, who adds the perfect humor to the entire adventure, since he also happens to be hard of hearing. Superman is another superhero ongoing comic book series with unforgettable characters of Superman, Lois Lane, Jimmy Olsen and Lex Luthor. The Superman saga began in the 1938 and gained massive popularity since then, due to which a self titled comic book was launched. Superman is born on planet Krypton, and then as an infant been rocketed to Earth, where he is raised by a farmer. As he grows old, he comes to know that he has superpowers and so utilizes them in the right way. He uses them to fight the injustice done to humanity.

It is a superhero team that includes characters like Wolverine, Angel, Armor, Husk, Professor X and so on. Professor Xavier creates young mutants and trains them to use their superpowers for the benefit of humankind. He creates a number of people and calls them all X-Men, as they contain the X-gene, which gives them their superpowers. It was first published in 1963 and was so enjoyable that it appealed to large masses of people. For this reason, it makes it to the list of popular comic books of all time.

Hellboy is a comic book superhero. It was such a hit that it was even adapted into a film. The Hellboy was brought to earth by the Nazi, he then grew to be huge and this red skinned demon had horns on his forehead. The very appearance of the character seemed to have amused the readers and within no time Hellboy was a rage. If you have not read it till yet, you must now!

The popularity of this character is just not restricted to its native land, but famous all over the world.

Remember the huge green superhuman with superpowers? Yes I am talking about the Hulk. It was a new concept altogether than what the regular comic books portrayed. Here, the idea was to portray a “good monster”, sounds contradictory, but a legend was born. The character gained immense popularity within no time and it was adapted into television series and movies as well.

No one could imagine that a superhero and patriot, who made his appearance as Captain America in a comic book series would be famous. Captain America is shown to be brilliant at martial arts and hand-to-hand combat. He wears a costume that bears the American flag, displaying his patriotism. It gained immense popularity during the war period, but later its popularity faded. Later on, Captain America was introduced again and then there was no looking back.

“The poor little rich boy” aww… that’s how Richie Rich is introduced. He is around 8 years old and is the only son of his affluent parents. He hardly attends his school and hangs out with his dog Dollar and friends. Although Richie is very rich, he is kind and benevolent. This comic book is all about Richie’s adventures.

Comic books may not have the same effect as reading a classic novel but they are filled with humor and adventures that will surely give you a calm reading session. It will bring a smile on your face and take you to the fantasy land.
